Overall, your entire home should be extremely comfortable. However, it’s ideal for your bedroom to be the most comfortable room in the house. After all, it’s the place where you get your beauty sleep. In addition to remaining supremely comfortable, your bedroom needs to flow in a functional way. Consider some of the ways you can design your bedroom to be more functional.

Create more open space

Think about foot traffic. If the bed is cutting through the middle of the room, this makes it challenging to maneuver around. If you have to hop over your bed in order to exit the bedroom, there’s a problem. When you have limited space, position the bed alongside one of the walls. You can also opt to cattycorner it for more space as well.

Use multi-purpose furniture

When you’re looking for bedroom sets, consider some of the furniture pieces you really need. If you know that you’ll want storage and a nightstand, be sure that the nightstand contains drawers. If you’re looking for a great ottoman to use when you’re enjoying your bedroom recliner, find an ottoman that doubles as a storage unit for the books you read while you’re sitting.

Declutter religiously

One of the best ways to keep your bedroom functional is through decluttering on a consistent basis. It’s easy for books, papers and other items to pile up. In an effort to maintain your decluttering process, put items away when you’re finished using them. Marie Kondo took the world by storm with her method of decluttering. If it doesn’t spark joy, get rid of it.

Consider your needs

Be practical about what you need. If your space is limited and you need more room to do yoga at the end of the day, consider purchasing a smaller bed frame. Sometimes the bulky furniture takes up more room than you actually need. If you and your spouse share a bed, it’s not practical to put the bed up against one wall. Knowing this, arrange the furniture in a way that allows everyone to use it comfortably and without any inconvenience.

Take a good assessment of your room to see what needs to be changed. In some cases, you might need to get rid of furniture. In other cases, you’ll just need to rearrange the pieces you have. It’s okay to experiment with different set-ups in order to see which one works best. As you curate a room that suits your desires, it’ll be a lot easier to comfortably relax.
