If you have ever had to patch a hole in your wall, you know how frustrating it can be. You can buy all sorts of patches or kits to do the job, but sometimes they don’t work the way you want them to. Here are some easy ways to patch your walls to save you time, money, and frustration.

Egg Cartons

If you have ever found a ding in your wall and your patch is too long, consider using egg cartons as your patch instead. Take the paper off the egg carton and cut the cardboard to size. You can make it fit perfectly if you use an X-Acto knife or box cutter to trim it. Use a spackle knife and cover the cardboard with spackle. You can then sand it down once it dries and paint over the area with matching paint to cover the fact there was ever any damage to the wall.

Easy Ways to Patch Your Walls

Toilet Paper Tubes

You shouldn’t necessarily throw away your toilet paper roll tubes, as they’re also a great option for quick and easy wall patches. Simply cut the tube to the size you need to cover the hole fully, and use spackle once again to protect it. Once the spackle dries, sand it and paint it. Much like the egg cartons, this is a quick and cheap way to fix any damage done to your walls.

Easy Ways to Patch Your Walls

Wall Foam

Wall foam is excellent for patching all kinds of holes in your walls. You can buy it at most hardware stores or find a version that is more of a spray polyurethane foam from home improvement manufacturers, ones like Everest Systems. You do not have to purchase an entire roll or bucket if you are only looking to patch a small hole in the wall. Ask someone in the paint department if they would be able to cut off a small amount of wall foam so you can use it as a patch.

Easy Ways to Patch Your Walls

Caulk

Suppose you are looking for a fast, easy way to patch your walls. While the above methods are definitely viable ways, you can also caulk the area. You can use an exterior grade or silicone caulking compound and apply it with a caulking gun. Once it dries completely, simply paint over it.

Easy Ways to Patch Your Walls

Spackle Paste

Spackle paste is a great way to patch all holes in your walls. In fact, you’ll likely end up using spackle in some capacity with almost all the other methods that have been suggested. Apply it with a spackle knife and let it dry. Sand the area once it dries and paints over the spot or ding. If you think just spackle is enough to fix your wall damage, this is definitely the method for you.

Easy Ways to Patch Your Walls

There is a fast and easy way to patch it, no matter what type of ding or hole you have in your wall. If you are only looking to fix a small area, you do not need to spend extra money on an entire roll of wall foam, caulk, or spackle paste. Every dollar counts these days, so save some money and fix your walls yourself.
