It’s where you’ll find Baby Beach, a gorgeous stretch of sand with the calmest waters in the world. Or at least according to the tourists who saw it for themselves. More than a quarter of all TripAdvisor reviews of the beach give special shoutouts to the tranquil sea. That’s the highest score of any beach mentioned in the study.
The calmest sea in every country in the world
Next up, HawaiianIsland researchers created a map of the calmest sea in every country.
High scorers include Brown Beach, Barbados, with over 20% of reviews mentioning calm waters, and Morne Rouge, Grenada (18.95%).
Sopot Beach in Poland scored the lowest of all. Less than 1 out of 100 visitors who left a review mentioned its calm water.
The most peaceful stretches of seas across the Americas
We’ve already mentioned the calmest sea in North America, so it’s time to venture further south.
According to the percentage of TripAdvisor mentions, Uruguay is the location of the most calming sea in South America. It sits quietly along Playa Mansa in the popular tourist resort of Punta del Este.
The remaining nine entries in the top ten list of calm seas in South America are split between beaches in Brazil and Ecuador.
Europe’s most peaceful water
Greece is one of the top European destinations for holidaymakers looking to wind down and recharge. So it’s no surprise that Greece has the continent’s calmest sea.
This stretch of pristine, undisturbed water runs along Marathi Beach in the Akrotiri area of Chania, Crete. It’s a charming destination known for its beautiful setting, and the calm, shallow waters make it an ideal for families with small children.
Sri Lanka has Asia’s calmest sea
Turning their attention to calm seas across Asia, the HawaiinIsland researchers found that Passikudah Beach, Kalkuda, Sri Lanka, received the most TripAdvisor mentions.
The phrase “Calm seas” features in 11.08% of all reviews left on the travel site. “Mesmerizing,” reads one comment. “All my stress and worries vanished. I could have stared at it forever. Perfect holiday moment
Tranquil seas in South Africa
Beaches in exotic holiday locations like Mauritius and the Seychelles dominate the list of calm seas in Africa.
But it’s South Africa that sits in the number one spot. The water next to Santos Beach in Mossel Bay has more “calm sea” mentions than any other beach on the continent.
Calm seas down under
Australian beaches are a mecca for surfers. But you won’t find any wave chasers at Jimmy Beach in Hawks Nest. Because there’s no waves!
Instead, Australia’s calmest sea is a place to relax, unwind, and drift off into 100% chill mode.
