Top Wedding Trends for 2023
When it comes to planning a wedding, it shouldn’t be all about what’s popular. You should plan a wedding that represents you as a couple. That being said, there are a number of trends we’ll see emerging this year. Here are some of the top wedding trends for 2023.
Over the Top Weddings
For a long time, couples were going lowkey with their weddings. COVID-19 had couples limiting their guest lists and throwing backyard weddings.
Now that COVID restrictions have mostly ended minimalism is out, and maximalism is in for 2023. Couples are going big this year – and we’re here for it. You can expect to see elaborate wedding decor, expensive dresses, designer heels, and luxurious reception menus. Large guest lists will also be making a comeback.
Mix and Match Bridesmaid Dresses
Gone are the days when a bride asked the bridesmaids to all wear the same dress. Instead, many brides are choosing a color and asking their bridesmaids to choose a dress in that color or offering several dress options for their bridesmaids to choose from. Not only does this give bridesmaids flattering options to choose from, but it also creates a color palette for the wedding. The difference in colors and textures can make for great wedding photos.
Destination Weddings
Everyone has been so cooped up, thanks to COVID-19. This has left most of us with a case of wanderlust. As a result, many couples are eager to see the world – and want their guests to celebrate in a fun new location with them. Although this might mean an international destination wedding for some couples, others may be traveling in the U.S.
Wedding planners are also seeing an increase in wedding events that last longer than a weekend. Think multiple days, with lunches, events, and parties to entertain the guests.
Extravagant Wedding Cakes and Toppers
Over the past few years, dessert tables have been common at most weddings. One of the 2023 wedding trends you can expect to see is the revival of the wedding cake. Over-the-top wedding cakes with equally extravagant cake toppers are going to be a popular trend this year.
Lace and Classic Wedding Dresses
Although lace is a timeless classic, it’s also going to be one of the top wedding trends for 2023. Lace wedding dresses with sleeves and matching veils are going to be the trend this year. You’re also likely to see lace linens incorporated into the wedding decor.
Most brides will also be opting for more traditional wedding gown styles this year. Grace Kelly’s wedding dress will be a popular inspiration as brides will be making more conservative and classic choices when it comes to what they wear on their special day.
Pattern Styled Decor
From the wedding invitations to the plates and table linens, many couples will be embracing patterns this year. For some couples, that might mean floral patterns. For others, it might mean colorful geometric patterns.
Colorful Weddings
Subtle wedding color schemes are out this year, and big, bold colors are in. We’ll see less black and white this year. Pink will be one of the top wedding colors for 2023, with a focus on bright shades like fuchsia and hot pink. Emerald green, orange, yellow, and florals are also going to be popular color schemes this year.
Sparkler-less Farewells
Big farewells are a wedding trend that’s been around for a while, with many couples opting for sparkler exits in the past. However, many wedding venues are no longer allowing sparklers. Couples have to get more creative with their exits. Bubbles, balloons, lanterns, confetti, streamers, glow sticks, pom poms, and champagne send-offs will all be making a comeback this year.
Although trends are constantly changing when it comes to tying the knot, we expect to see all of the above-mentioned wedding trends in 2023. From extravagant weddings to timeless wedding dresses, this is going to be a year to celebrate!
