How to Decorate Your Master Bedroom on a Budget
Your master bedroom doesn’t need to be filled with only a bed and a dresser or two. Even if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on furniture and accessories, you can still decorate your master bedroom in a way that showcases your personality and style while giving you a comfortable place to sleep at night. Here are a few ideas to consider when you begin planning your design.
Adding Color
A simple way to change the appearance of your master bedroom while spending little money is to paint the walls. You can also paint the dressers to blend with the color that you choose for the walls. Although you don’t want to use dark colors in your bedroom, you should avoid colors that are too bright as well because you don’t want to create an atmosphere that will keep you awake at night. Calming colors like gray, beige, blue, and green are options to consider. Something as simple as a different color on your walls can completely transform the look and feel of a room.

Changing Your Bed
Even though a new bed can sometimes be expensive if you get one with a detailed headboard and footboard, there are options available if you’re on a budget. Look at mattress sales that offer a free box spring with the purchase of a mattress. If you have a newer mattress, you can easily change the appearance of your bed by getting new sheets, pillows, and a comforter. These changes will usually give you a better night’s sleep as well since you’re on new materials.
Accent Walls
Instead of focusing on decorating the entire room, create an accent wall that features pictures and other items that you enjoy seeing. This wall can be painted a different color so that it stands out from the others in the room. Another way to design a feature wall is to add texture to the wall behind your headboard. You can also hang pictures or an image that you enjoy seeing as a way to balance the details of the bed. You can easily create these decorative details yourself. There are plenty of DIY tutorials you can follow that use second-hand materials for a cheap option.

Add Layers
Instead of one layer of bedding, consider adding a folded blanket at the end of your bed. You could also add a few small pillows that you remove when you go to sleep at night. Consider using a bright color on your bed that clearly contrasts with the blanket and sheets. Mixing textures on your bed will make it appear as if you put more effort into designing than you actually did.
Decorating your bedroom can be a fun adventure that results in an environment you want to be in when it’s time to go to sleep. With only a few small updates, you can transform the entire look of your room so that it looks new. If you decorate one area at a time, then you can easily stay within the budget that you set while getting everything that you want.
