Difference between Spring Water, Distilled Water and Purified Water
Nowadays many people face the problem of bad quality of tap water. Numerous sources of pollution, floods or acid rain have made drinking water unsafe for human ingestion. However, such water is the only one that entails certain minerals which enable our organism to function properly. So, the question is posed: Is there a perfect replacement for tap water? The choice boils down to three types of water- spring, distilled and purified one. Here are several characteristics of each, and it is up to you to decide what you like most.
Spring Water
Spring water is usually the one we find in supermarkets. It is the water usually produced in underground mineral sources, after which it is bottled and sold to us. As its sole name says, it should represent something healthy and completely safe for people’s consumption, but that is not always the case. There are numerous reasons why bottled water is not probably the best solution for us.
Firstly, it comes from the mineral sources which are not always microbiologically tested, which means that it could contain bacteria or contaminants such as arsenic or phthalates. That is the reason why the intake of those elements could be extremely harmful for people’s health.
There is a popular belief that it is regular tap water which is packed and sold to us as the spring one, which has triggered numerous speculations so far. This means that people who care about their family’s health are easily tricked to pay for the same water they could drink from their homes for free.
Distilled Water
Distilled water is a subtype of purified water, which usually goes through rigorous controls and processes of filtration, during which all harmful elements are eliminated. However, there is the other side of the coin: This kind of water lacks some minerals which are crucial for our health. That is the main reason why it is not usually used for human use, but for small appliances such as steam irons.
Purified Water
The water that comes from various sources and then goes through the strict process of filtration is called purified water. Either from a mineral source or from a tap, this water is completely free from the negative influences of bacteria or chemicals, claim highly-rated suppliers of water filters.
There are various purification methods that include numerous different processes such as deionization, reverse osmosis and carbon filtration. Each of these steps has its own purpose, which results in completely healthy water. On the other hand, through filtration, water loses most of its minerals and ingredients that have nurturing effect on our organism.
What is the Optimal Solution for You?
As you could already realize, there is no perfect solution for you. All of these three types of water have both, numerous advantages and disadvantages. Spring water, which is usually considered as the healthiest, doesn’t go through adequate tests or processes of purification. Even minerals it is supposed to be rich with could be lost since it is hermetically bottled. On the contrary, purified and distilled water go are filtered and completely adequate for our use, but they are known for the lack of important minerals.
When it comes to such choices concerning health, the people having children are in a dead-end situation. They don’t want their kids ingest numerous negative chemicals, but at the same time, they are afraid that they will lack substances that are important for their growth and development.
For me personally, communal drinking water is the best possible solution. Since it comes from municipal source, it is the obligation of every municipality to test it and informs us if something goes wrong. Also, it contains all the necessary minerals which nourish our organism, such as fluoride.
