Whether they’re opened or closed, your window treatments truly hold the ability to make your windows pop. Consider some of the best ways to make this happen.

While it’s common to purchase the standard curtains that are available in the local home decor store, take it a step further. Custom drapery can truly elevate the look of a home. By investing in custom drapery, you can enjoy floor-to-ceiling coverage that looks similar to what you’d find in a high-end hotel.

Blinds or Shades

While the standard white blinds are classic for covering your windows, to make them unique it’s important that you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone a bit. Look for blinds and shades in various textures, colors, or designs. Something beyond the classic and everyday white. For example, bamboo blinds and wooden blinds continue to provide a classy appeal. Wood-woven shades and roman shades are great options to try as well. What’s important though is their colors and textures can really play to the strength’s of the window’s potential and color palette a lot better than if they were generic and plain.

Furniture

Sitting in front of a window is fun for reading books or people-watching, especially when the weather permits and you’re able to sit on the window to do so. Make your window experience comfortable by setting a chair, a sofa, or a couch in front of the window. You can also, if there’s room, set cushions in the window to make it more of an individual seat. A strategically-placed bookshelf can make the area even more functional. Just be sure the get the right measurements so that the furniture doesn’t conceal the view.

Greenery

When a window is in the basement or sits across from a wall, the view isn’t enthralling at all. You can still maximize the window by adding greenery to it. Hang an indoor plant in front of the window. Make sure it’s a plant that doesn’t need a ton of sunlight in order to thrive. You can still place curtains on the side if you’d like to dress it up even more.
