We’re living in a truly golden age of the small screen. From dramas that rival Shakespearian history plays (we’re thinking Succession) to hilarious comedy shows packed with A-list stars, streams of high quality content are now just a few clicks away.
But how well do you know the sets of the shows you spend hours watching?
Home design expert SimpleGhar has a challenge for you. It recreated six kitchens from some of the best dramas and comedies on TV and streaming platforms right now.
Can you guess all the shows?
Find the clues below.
Upstairs and downstairs
This kitchen featured in a hit British ITV drama focusing on the stark class divides of early 20th century England. Sitting underneath a sprawling (and very fictional) Yorkshire county estate, it’s where scullery maids like Mrs Patmore prepared banquets for the lords and ladies upstairs.
Down and dirty in the kitchen
Most of the action in this British comedy-drama series occurs in the fictional Moordale Secondary School. And the show’s topic is more suited to the bedroom than the kitchen. Unless, of course, you enjoy incorporating food into your ‘intimate relations’ with other human beings. And yes, that is a real thing. It’s called sploshing. Although maybe think twice before shouting out that answer at the next pub quiz night.
A kitchen fit for a prince
This fresh-looking kitchen style would impress anyone. But if you’re a poor kid on a permanent visit from the tough streets of Philly, it would look like something you’d see in a palace. You’d probably start feeling like a Prince yourself. Surely you don’t need any more clues! This one was easy.
Contemporary style and comedy
A modern kitchen for a very…contemporary family. A few of you might have guessed this one already. A kitchen that’s seen plenty of, let’s face it, hilarious Thanksgiving meltdowns. And it always feels a little hotter when Gloria starts cooking up some of her favourite national dishes. And we’re not talking about the jalapenos.
You’ll be mad for this kitchen design
A gorgeous kitchen fit for a don of the New York advertising world and his actress wife. This uber-cool space epitomises the smooth and chic 1960s Park Avenue style. In fact, every set in every show in every series of this AMC modern classic oozes style and sophistication. You’d be mad not to love this kitchen and a mad man to eat your breakfast in it every morning.
A normal-looking kitchen where strange things happen
Don’t let this idyllic-looking suburban kitchen design fool you. Despite the twee curtains and Americana-inspired furnishings, odd things happen here. You might even call them strange things. Very strange things indeed. A kitchen where an interdimensional demon intent on destroying your world might invite itself over for dinner. Seriously.
How many did you get right? A perfect six out of six? Or do you need to brush up on your TV trivia? If so, it’s the perfect excuse for another Netflix binge. You’re not lazy; it’s research!
