Motivating your child to expand their horizons is always a worthy task, but it is not a simple one. This is why, you need to use every opportunity you have to do so and decorating kid’s room the proper way is one of them. By far the easiest ways to achieve this effect is by creating a particular theme in the kids room. Different themes have different effect, so it all depends on your personal disposition and that of your kid. This being said here are some tips and tricks that you will definitely be able to use when next time you decide to decorate your kids room.
Pirate Themed Room
First of all, for a boy’s room, there is probably nothing more interesting than a pirate’s cove and today in the dawn of the 21st century, there is no reason why same wouldn’t go for girls as well. This being said, you can start off by putting a large map on one of the walls or better yet, have someone paint one as a mural on the wall. The best thing about this is that through his or hers numerous adventures, your kids will learn more about our world as well as about cartography, than any geography course could ever teach them.
Finally, you can make all your furniture in pirate theme, or simply dress the room up to the occasion. Disguise toy box into a treasure chest and make sure that all woodwork in the room is made of hardwood, so that kid can perceive entire room as one big ship where they are the captain.
Action Movies
Another great idea would be to decorate the room like a scene from an action movie or a superhero movie. By following the morality and ethics of a superhero, your child will greatly benefit. Now every hero has his or hers own set of unique colors. If for example you were to decorate the room in a Spiderman theme, the choice of colors would be blue and red.
Furthermore, not only your child’s sense of morale would benefit this way. Namely by roleplaying as a superhero your kid will be encouraged to develop both their imagination and creativity. You can easily enhance this by getting some Davey Boys Toys action figurines of both Spiderman and his adversaries such as Green Goblin or Rhino. Of course, you could even get some of Spiderman’s Avengers buddies to help him out. Just get a nice shelf to exhibit all of them, and your room will get yet another dimension.
Going Classical
Finally, you can just decide to go with a child’s room and put all the other themes aside. You can just go for a nice, gender specific color like blue or pink and decorate the room with balloons and other kinds of ornaments. Better yet, allow your kid to make its own room accessories by teaching it how to fold origami. Sure, everyone knows how to make paper planes but making birds, frogs and other figurines from paper is a genuine art. Once again, not only will it look good in a room but will bolster your kid’s creative efforts as well.
As you can probably see, every single of these things plays two purposes: aesthetic and didactic ones. By making an interesting décor in your kid’s room, you will personalize it and further customize it to your kid’s needs. Moreover, by including your beloved child in any of these remodeling efforts (like it was the case with origami), you will make them feel as if they are in charge in their own room. This notion alone is nearly impossible to top and one you should definitely consider. What more can a parent ask for?
