A lot of people are too fast or hold on to their mattress far too long, know the signs to look for when your mattress just needs a simple fix or needs to be thrown out entirely.
Booths bring you some tips on maintaining the quality of your mattress and what you should look out for just incase you do need a change.
Check Its Support
Support is extremely important when it comes to mattresses of all types, as without it the mattress will naturally sag over time. This will affect the quality of sleep drastically and can lead to quite severe neck and back pain.

Ensure that the frame that you use is designed to support the mattress properly too. The size of the mattress matters a lot in this regard, as if the mattress is too big then the frame should have more bars to support it.

Check on the support of your mattress every year or so to ensure that it’s not losing its tension, ask the manufacturer or look at the warranty for any recommendations on specific mattress types.
Give it a Flip
Flipping the mattress every three or four months can give you some great results in keeping the mattress in good condition. Ensuring that the strain isn’t focused on just one end of the mattress, flipping it end-to-end and then completely over and fix some support issues you may be having.

Depending on the type of mattress this may be required more often than others, for example spring mattresses quite often require this as the springs lose their tension over the years. Memory foam and latex mattresses not so much as they’re designed to offer support across the mattress.
Mattress Covers
A mattress cover is a great way to protect it from accidental spillage, dust, debris and dirt. This allows you to avoid the strenuous task of attempting to wash your mattress by hand when you inevitably spill something on it.
The covers protect the materials inside the mattress from damage, over time liquids that seep through the material can be harmful and speed up the decay of your mattress.
Regular Wash
Try to regularly wash your mattress and your sheets to avoid a buildup of dust, skin flakes and sweat which damages your mattress over time. Giving it a regular vacuum during your regular cleaning is of great help while using warm water and detergent to hand wash the mattress. Allow it to dry preferably in a dry room with access to sunlight allowing the mattress to breath.
