How to Maximize Productivity in your Office

Working from 9 to 5 is not something that everyone could do. We all differ when it comes to being a morning person or a night-time person. This has a huge impact on whether we could keep doing a 9 to 5 job or not. The fact that it is an 8 hours shift could be a discouragement to some of us as well. Being a productive worker, however, does not necessarily mean you have to work 8 hours per day.

Ever since the early 1800’s, companies believe that working longer hours equal a higher productivity when it comes to getting the work done. The thought behind is coherent, however, the workers are people and not robots. What works for one employee, might not work for another employee. We all differ in moods and having our moments of sadness or happiness.

Motivators

Nonetheless, one thing we might have in common is that a good working environment and good working conditions help us stay productive during the working hours in the office. Since we know what we can expect to get paid per hour, receiving extra benefits or a bonus for the delivered work might inspire one. The possibility and chance to get promoted, will matter to one as well.

Some of us prefer working in a warm setting with a high temperature, whereas others might prefer working with the windows open, letting a cold breeze in. The right temperature in the office is therefore of importance. To concentrate and focus, you need to sit in the right spot. When working in an office with colleagues, we tend to get distracted very easily. Sometimes freestanding screens are needed to distance ourselves from each other. Working on a table that matches your height is relevant when working for such long hours. Sitting correctly on the task chairs could keep us going as well as it could cater to our posture.

Also, researchers have stated that working a shorter shift could result in a higher productivity rate when comparing it to a 9 to 5 shift. Knowing that you could go home earlier, could make an employee want to work more intensely during the hours he/she is present.

Find out what works for you

It is essential to be aware of what keeps you motivated and what, on the other hand, bothers you. Taking a walk outside during the break, for example, could fix a lot. Constantly underperforming and not challenging yourself could have a negative effect on your private life too. When you do challenge yourself you become more aware of what you are capable of. Therefore, we must take it serious. Eventually, being a productive employee benefits yourself as well as your company.
