How to Give Your Bathroom a Nature-Focused Renovation

A bathroom should be an escape, a place where you can go to forget about the stresses of your life. One great way to emphasize this relaxing aspect of your bathroom is to focus on nature as much as possible when renovating your bathroom. This focus on nature can extend to both your decor and to your dedication to environmental friendliness throughout the project. This will provide you with a beautiful space that you can be proud to enjoy.

Add Live Plants

The warm and humid environment in your bathroom makes it a perfect place for plants that might not survive in other areas in your home. As long as you have enough natural light coming in, you can include a few tropical plants that can give your bathroom a resort-like atmosphere. Just be sure to water your plants regularly, as the moisture they take in from the humidity will not be enough to sustain them.

Add Water-Saving Fixtures

If you want to focus on nature in your bathroom by being eco-friendly, then adding water-saving fixtures is a great place to start. Specifically, you can have a plumbing contractor install a water-saving showerhead and toilet, which, combined, could save you thousands of gallons of water a year. This allows you to still get the most out of your bathroom while lowering your water bill and helping to protect the planet’s most valuable resource.

Add A Window

While the idea of a window in a bathroom can seem a little odd to some people, there are plenty of ways to add a window and still preserve your privacy. Whether you use a frosted window, install curtains over the window, or place the window closer to the ceiling so that no one can see anything, there are plenty of ways to make a window work in a bathroom. However you choose to do it, adding a window in your bathroom can allow natural light to stream in while helping you feel closer to the natural elements that surround your home.

Reuse Existing Fixtures

Another great way to make your bathroom more environmentally friendly is to reuse some of your existing fixtures and finishes. While fixtures that are broken or outdated can be replaced, if something, such as a bathtub, is still working properly, there’s not much reason to get rid of it. Instead, you can save this money and these natural resources and use the extra money to splurge on another component of the renovation.

Take Time to Enjoy It

After your bathroom renovation is complete, it’s important to take time to enjoy the beauty that you’ve helped create. Rather than rushing through your morning routine, for example, you can wake up a few minutes earlier so that you can spend time relaxing in your bathroom to help you get your day started on the right foot. Don’t underestimate the benefits of some time alone in a beautifully renovated bathroom.
