The pandemic may still impact your ability to connect with loved ones and to attend church during the Easter season of 2021. However, even if you are socially distancing one more holiday, you can still enjoy the hope to be found in this season.
Enjoy a Special Meal
If you like to dye eggs, go for it! Take some photos, share with loved ones, and then fix yourself some egg salad or make devilled eggs to enjoy. You can also fix a bowl of old-fashioned potato salad for a nice springtime meal. Don’t forget to add a bit of ham or a turkey breast to make the day a bit more special.
Plant Something
Spring is a time of rebirth and restarting. If we ever needed a reason to enjoy some hope in the growing season, 2021 is the year. Consider setting up a small countertop herb garden or plant some lemon seeds in a crisp white container. Fresh lemon leaves will scent your home and look sharp on your counter.
Don’t Forget the Dessert
If you have children, do be sure to include some standard candies in their baskets. In addition, consider doing some baking as a family to stretch out the Easter treat with some family time. If it’s getting too warm in your area to enjoy baking, there are many no bake desserts for your children to enjoy making together.
For those with very small children, consider setting up a dipping line. Simple sandwich cookies and pretzels can be dipped in liquid chocolate and an angel food cake, torn up, can be tossed together with fresh fruit and whipped cream.
Enjoy the Outdoors
Indulge and get some Easter gift boxes and take them out on the patio or to a local park and isolate as a family to enjoy some treats. If you have a tablet, take that along and watch a recording of a church service or listen to some music that appeals to you.
While you’re out, load plastic eggs with jelly beans and other treats that don’t melt. Have one adult distract the children while the other hides the eggs for kids to stretch out the fun of Easter.
Create Baskets For Others
If you have friends and family that are isolated this holiday season, consider putting together a basket of items they can use long-term. Simple tools, such as nail clippers, lotion and nail buffers can be useful, as can a box of blank cards and some stamps. Consider putting this gift in a simple tote that can be folded up small and used again by the recipient. Let your kids decorate the bag handles with lots of ribbons and a handmade card.
Global events of 2020 and 2021 have made connecting in person hard. If you’re sheltering in place with children, stretching out the holiday fun can make the time go more quickly. No matter what, find a way to enjoy the renewal that is Easter.
