On July 17, 1955, the opening of Disneyland gave fun-loving people around the world yet another reason to spend their vacation in Southern California. 60 years later, Disneyland celebrates yet another decade as the West Coast’s premier family destination.
The Diamond Celebration is a celebration of Disneyland’s 60th anniversary.
Diamond Celebration: They’ve Spruced the Place up for a Big Party
Will you be in SoCal this summer?
Head to Disneyland and California Adventure for the ongoing Diamond Celebration, which began May 22 and runs through the summer. From dazzling fireworks displays to parades put on by your favorite Disney characters, visitors can expect even more entertainment and more surprises than usual during the Diamond Celebration.
As discussed in the article “Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Celebration,” both Carthay Circle in Disney California Adventure and Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in Disneyland have received makeovers for the festivities.
Three New Amazing Attractions and Events
The Diamond Celebration features three new attractions: Disney Forever, Paint the Night and World of Color – Celebrate!
Disney Forever is a fireworks spectacular that trumps even the amazing pyrotechnic displays that Disneyland visitors have come to love. Paint the Night is the largest light display in the history of the park. More than a million lights adorn the brightest parade you’ll ever see.
Then there is World of Color – Celebrate!
Hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and, of course, Mickey Mouse, World of Color is a journey through the history of Walt Disney’s creations and characters, from the very beginning to today. Music, fire, lasers and mountains combine to make the greatest backdrop of any story ever told.
Other Great Additions to the Celebration
Guests will also be eligible to win actual diamonds through Diamond Days Sweepstakes – other prizes include special Disneyland resort experiences. There is also the Diamond Mad T Party, which pulls you into a magical wonderland filled with lights, colors and music. You can only catch the show at California Adventure. Throughout the entire event, Downtown Disney is the awash with merchandise, events, music, food, shopping and more.
The Diamond Celebration features three brand new events.
Disneyland is known for fun, excitement and an atmosphere that can only be described as magic. But you’ve never done Disney until you’ve visited during the Diamond Celebration. You only turn 60 once, and for this anniversary, Disney has gone above even its own standards and expectations for excitement and adventure. If you still haven’t decided on your summer vacation, the Diamond Celebration won’t last forever, but don’t worry – you can still get tickets! So get ready and enjoy the Disney holidays!
