Delhi – The Heart of India

Delhi a place full of everything! Definitely a must-visit, as it’s not just a city, but the heart of India. You will get to see people from all parts of India, as it has huge diversity, and it welcomes all always. Everytime you will visit Delhi, you will find a new place to visit, as there are numerous destinations and sites, this beautiful city has a lot to offer afterall. You will never be bored here, you will have some or other things to do or see over here. This is what makes Delhi charismatic and incredible. Here is a list of places to visit in Delhi.

Chandni Chowk

You may remember this place from Karan Johar’s movie KabhieKhusiKabhieGhum. It is a must see place, especially for those who are food and shopping fanatics. When you are here spare at least 3 to 4 hours, as it is going to be a crowded place and you wouldn’t want to miss out on anything. This is a historical place, which gives you a full on medieval bazaar type experience. You will find all types of things here, such as lifestyles goods, candles, electronic items, perfumes, jewellery, clothes, and much more.

Akshardham Temple

This is epitome of spirituality, architecture, and Indian culture. It was built in the year 2005, and is near the River Yamuna. Volunteers over 8000 took part in the process of construction of this beautiful temple. It is also host to various exhibitions, water shows, musical fountain, boat ride, NeelkanthDarshan Film Screening, SahajanandDarshan, Bharat Upavan, Narayan Sarovar, open garden, and various rituals. The centre piece here is the Murti or Statue of Lord Swaminarayan along with other 20,000 deities.

Connaught Place

Connaught place is great for those who are food, shopping, and nightlife fanatics. It is a financial as well as commercial centre of Delhi. This place houses all famous restuarants, bars, food chains, and international stores. The first place in Delhi to have toy store is this, even ice cream parlour, art gallery, it all started from this place. Old villages such as Raja Bazaar and Madhoganj had been demolished to construct this place, and so the people here also had to relocate. Some of the famous food chains here are Coffee House, SagarRatna, Rajdhani, Zaffran, Caffe 9, Farzi Café, Khan Chacha, and the list goes on.

Lodhi Garden

This is one of the city parks in New Delhi. It contains Tomb of Mohammed Shah, Bara Gumbad, Shisha Gumbad, and Sikander Lodi. The architectural work here dates back to 15th century which was built by Lodhis. The gardens here are located between Safdarjung’s Tomb and Khan Market. This is one of the most favourable places for all the morning walkers.

Qutub Minar

This was built in the year 1192, by Delhi Sutlanate. It is 240 feet tall, and has 379 stairs, from where you can go to the top monument. This is built with marble and red sandstone. It stays open everyday except for Sunday.
