Blogging and traveling. How to be on trend and have money?

I have been working as a travel blogger for quite a while now and I have to admit that it is a pretty sweet work. Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Sometimes, I think this saying was specifically said about the travel blogging because if you really love traveling, writing about it during the journeys will be a pretty easy work to do.

For some people, posting photos on the social media and writing blogs about the adventures might not sound like a serious job but once you receive a paycheck, your opinion will change dramatically. I mean what could be better than traveling around the world, seeing beautiful sites, cultures, and people and getting paid for it, agree?

If you continued reading to this point you must be really interested in this job. Excellent choice! I will be more than glad to share some of the fundamentals and secrets of the profession and show how you can set up your travel blog by the current trends.

Here is the plan in a nutshell:

  1.    Select a Name For The Blog
  2.    Learn WordPress
  3.    Professional Blog Theme
  4.    Embrace Social Media
  5.    What You Should Write About

I’ll review the plan in more detail so you have a better understanding of how to start a traveling blog properly.

Step 1: Select a Name for the Blog

The name may be the first thing that our potential readers will see, so it is always necessary to have a great name that can grab attention. Some of the great examples of popular blogs that can be found on the Internet are “Around the world in 80 jobs,” “Adventurous Kate,” Alaska TravelGram,” “Alex in WanderLand,” “Chris Around the World,” and “iBackpack Canada.” As you have probably understood by now, the name might include your name and some clues to what the blog is about but remember, it should be really attractive for the attention. From the obvious titles like “Out to Europe” to awesome ones like “Runaway Matt,” the title should really be interesting for the viewers. Maybe some of them wish to become runaways from the daily routine as well!

A good attractive name of the travel blog is always a trend that can bring you more visitors, so make sure you have one.

Step 2: Learn WordPress

WordPress is the industry standard, period. It is one of the best blogging platforms that offer the greatest functionality and minimum technical skills, which allows you to focus on the traveling and writing. I recommend you spend a week learning WordPress so you do not have any problems with it in the future, for example, how to set up the blog, how to use the dashboard, how to change the settings, how to post an article and insert images and so on. There are many learning resources on the Internet, so finding them will not be difficult.

Step 3: Get a Professional Blog Theme

Do not settle with the standard themes provided by WordPress because they will make your blog mundane and boring. The Internet has a lot of stunning professional themes that will increase your credibility among the viewers and show your aesthetic taste. The price for these themes varies between $25 and $100 but they are completely and 100 percent worth it.

Step 4: Embrace Social Media

To ensure that your blog stays relevant and follows the latest trends, you should think about using social media. It is clear that Facebook and Twitter are a part of daily lives of millions and this should be taken care of. Just create pages on all popular platforms and keep them relevant by posting pictures, videos, and short narratives in order for people to have a taste of your blog before they actually land there. One little but important tip: keep the social media name and the blog name as same as possible so your viewers would not get confused.

Step: 5: What You Should Write About

To ensure that your content is relevant and useful for the viewers, you should conduct a little research before you write. Spend some time looking through other popular blogs and determine the themes for your first posts. Remember, in this case, you should think about quality rather than quantity because the viewers will appreciate the usefulness of your blogs. To provide usefulness, you can share some tips on what to do in specific foreign countries, give good recommendations on food, and create your own tours that include many beautiful places.

Over to You!

A travel blog should meet some specific requirements in order to be popular and bring money, such as the usefulness of the articles, social media, WordPress, and name. Use these tips to create a great travel blog that will blow the minds of the viewers with interesting stories and stunning photos!
